An attractive pastoral sampler worked with coloured silks and hair onto a cream wool ground. A six lined verse is placed above the main subject, the whole being surrounded by an undulating border of carnations. Such pastoral subjects were popular with embroiderers throughout the 18th century.
Executed in cross, satin and long and short stitch.
