Elizabeth Ford. 1658.

This rare Commonwealth band sampler was worked in the turbulent years in which the Lord protector of England, Oliver Cromwell Died. ( 1599 - 1658 ) Worked with floss silks on unbleached linen with bands of stylised flower heads and a delightful band at the base featuring two boxer figures, small animals and birds. The stitches include satin, cross, running and double running.
