Sampler worked in coloured silks on a cream wool ground.
A traditional undulating leaf and berry border forms the surround.
Amongst the various sampler motifs of fruit, birds, insects etc is a
larger tableau depicting Adam and Eve placed either side of the
Tree of Life with the serpent entwined around the trunk.

Contained in the original broad rosewood frame.
