Elizabeth Bancroft 1804
Finely worked sampler by Elizabeth Bancroft, worked at school in Newton Lane, Manchester in her eleventh year in 1804. This sampler stitched on a fine gauze ground demonstrates the young Elizabeths skill with a needle in the minutely worked alphabet and verse.
Worked in black and gold silk on exceptionally fine linen gauze. Provenance ex collection of Vivian Crellin.

Jane Munef 1827
Fine and imposing Scottish sampler worked by Jane Munef in 1827 aged 10 years. Worked in coloured silks on a fine ground this sampler displays numerous different stitch techniques illustrating Janes skill with her needle. The sampler retains very good original colour and condition and is framed in a lovely period rosewood frame.

Spot Motif Sampler dated 1674
Exceptionally rare dated seventeenth century spot motif sampler dated 1674 and initialled MIP. This rare example includes a family Coat of Arms (currently being researched). It also includes geometric, floral and figurative spot motifs. the sampler is worked using a variety of different stitch techniques in coloured silks on an unbleached linen canvas ground.

Quaker medallion sampler worked by Deborah Watson at Ackworth school in 1808. Deborah entered Ackworth in 1806 from her family home in Durham, she worked her sampler the year she left in 1808. Worked in the muted silk threads typically associated with these medallion samplers, this example retains exceptional original condition.

Charming 19th century sampler worked by Rhoda Brannan at Southey aged 9 in 1820. Worked in coloured silks on a fine linen ground, this sampler retains good original colour, and combines a wide variety of different stitch techniques, showing the young Rhoda's skill with her needle.

Jane Faldor 1829
Good 19th century sampler worked by Jane Faldor, finished in the year 1829. This sampler is worked predominantly in cross stitch with the exception of the sky above Adam and Eve in the central decorative panel. The sampler is currently waiting to be framed and so there are no framed measurements. The sampler retains excellent original colour and condition.
