Sarah Williams. Age 16.

An attractive house sampler worked in coloured silks with two six line verses and a number of individual sampler motifs forming a surround. The whole within an undulating geometric vine leaf border. Contained in the original ebonised frame.

This carefully constructed sampler is worked entirely in cross stitch on a cream wool ground with an attractive stylised floral border and a long central verse inscribed ‘An address to the Deity’.
Contained in the original rosewood frame.

A superb band sampler worked in brightly coloured silks with numerous images including a splendid image and depiction of Adam and Eve. In outstanding condition.

Quaker Linked Medallion Sampler. 18th century. CC 56.

This rare brightly coloured medallion sampler has been a subject of discussion by Carol Humphrey, expert on Quaker samplers.
Embroidered with fine wool thread on linen.

Jane Price Her Work

This sampler typically dates from the mid 18th century when female literacy was becoming more important. Eleven lines of moral instruction for children form the text above two angels holding 'the crown of life'. Contained in a period ebonised and gilt wood frame.

Mary Howells. 1822. Aged 9 Years

This very detailed tightly embroidered sampler is a huge achievement for a young girl of just nine years old. Worked with coloured silks on a fine ground fabric.
